The change of scenery went from flat, farming land to the swamps. The houses went from being built on the ground with a foundation to raised, feet above the water. Deer were seen running through the fields. Many types of birds and ducks filled the swamp water and skies.
As the train pulled into the station, excitement filled me. Butterflies were dancing in the innermost part of me. As I walked off the train, the warm, humid air hit my body. I had finally arrived. The train station was small. Perfect for first time travelers.

I decided to take a taxi instead of walking to the hotel with the rest of the class, along with four other of my friends. I guess you could say the princess in us came out.
Arriving at the hotel, the first thing on my mind was to take a shower. I was covered in the scent of a gruesome 15 hour train ride. I prepared for the next adventure on our itinerary. A historical ghost tour.
My first impression of what I would expect from the ghost tour was something that would be similar to the Ghost Hunters show. However, during the tour we were able to gain more than just scare tactics. Denise, the tour guide, told wonderful stories about the history of the city. She emphasized on the natives beliefs in voodoo-ism and the fascination they have with death. I was intrigued and became fascinated myself. The houses that are filled it's these spiritual beings give life to this city full of death.
At the end of the day I was exhausted. I couldn't even take my clothes I wore for the day off. I closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep. Thinking about the what the next day had in store for us, I fell asleep.
